Thing #16 Assignment Calculator

Decided to try the research project calculator. This was neat. Since I have to read the questions and answers about the First Amendment by April 4th, I find that there are 9 days to complete this project. This would be great for students. Now I need to start on it.

Thing #15 Games

Tonight I stepped into the library to get a newspaper article for my granddaughter from an old paper. Sitting there were 5 people, some children, some adults, and all were playing games on the computer. I was shocked. I'm not much into games on the computer, but I did try the puzzle pirates. It was fun to hear the sound of the water bubbles and I did get a bonus! However, I don't see myself playing the games, maybe show them to the grandkids.

#14 Library Thing

I went into the Library Thing Local - it gave me the map of our location, no events were scheduled here, but there were bookstores in Mankato. I did read the thing about adding books to a catalog and you merely need to have words from the title, the author or an ISBN. Library Thing gets all the info from amazon.com and from over 250 libraries around the world, including the Library of Congress. I loved the word used, "folksonomies"someone used for a tag.
Our library has a newsletter to alert readers about new books at the library. I use amazon.com and barnes & nobles often at the library to figure out authors, prices & etc. about books.

Thing #13 Online Productivity Tools

Especially liked the weather maps since we are expecting snow tonight or tomorrow to see just where it is coming from. Also, the politics was easy to get around in to see how the candidates stood on the issues. I have the weather in my bookmarks now.

Thing #12 Sites of Digg, Reddit, Mixx & Newsvine

First, I tried Newsvine and listened to Obama's speech which I liked better than the others for national news. Some of the statements made in Digg and Mixx were weird. It would take a large amount of time if you wanted to read all this and I knew then that I didn't want to continue. I did like the idea that we don't need to sign in just to read about it.
